Undefeated Georgia Southern (7-0, 5-0) will face its arguably toughest test of the season Saturday at Appalachian State, which is tied for second place in the Southern Conference. Last year GSU's win over the Mountaineers helped spark a then 4-4 Eagle team towards a playoff run.
Georgia Southern continues to lead the entire FCS in rushing offense, total offense and scoring, with running back Robert Brown (97 yards a game) leading the team. Last week the Eagles set a school record with a 31-point second quarter to beat Presbyterian 48-14.
The Mountaineers switched quarterbacks after a loss to Wofford earlier in the season, and have been perfect since. Sophomore Jamal Jackson, an Atlanta native, threw for 290 yards and a touchdown in the Mountaineers 35-17 win over Samford last week.
