An offensive shootout is expected in Statesboro, Georgia today when Georgia Southern squares off against Old Dominion in the second-round of the FCS Playoffs.
Both teams come into the game averaging over 35 points per contest and more than 420 total yards of offense. Georgia Southern features one of the nation's best ground games piling up over 300 yards rushing per game with its triple option attack. Old Dominion uses a more traditional look with Georgia native Taylor Heinicke at quarterback for an offense that is averaging over 260 yards passing.
The Eagles are coming off of a bye week after their season ending loss to Alabama. Against FCS opponents, Georgia Southern is 9-1 this season with its only loss coming at Wofford in late October.
Old Dominion comes into the game after winning seven of its last eight games including last week's first round 35-18 victory over Norfolk State. The Monarchs football program is in the playoffs in just its third season since restarting the program under coach Bobby Wilder.
