Round two of the 2011 SoCon basketball tournament featured a big win by Bobby Cremins’ College of Charleston Cougars, who topped Elon 78-60. That score makes the game look a little closer than it was, as Cremins was sitting star players during the final minutes.
Charleston’s semifinals opponent Furman handled Chattanoona, 61-52. The game was tight until late in the second, when the Paladins went on an overwhelming run. Jordan Miller led with 21 points.
On the other side of the bracket, Wofford handled Appalachian State, 69-56, while Western Carolina beat UNC-Greensboro, 77-66. Those winners will face off today for a trip to the finals.
Charleston beat Furman in both of their meetings this season, though one was only a four-point win. Wofford won its only matchup against Western Carolina, 75-66 at home.
