The 2012 Southern Conference Championship will begin on Friday, March 2 with an automatic spot in this year's NCAA Tournament. UNC Greensboro and Davidson earn the top seeds in the tournament and have byes in the first round along with Wofford and Elon.
Georgia Southern earns the No. 3 seed from the south division and will draw Chattanooga in the first round. The Eagles finished 14-14 overall and 12-6 in conference play but lost their last two games heading into the tournament. Chattanooga suffered through a disappointing 5-13 conference season. The Eagles won both games during the regular season defeating the Mocs 84-76 in Statesboro and 75-72 in Chattanooga.
