Georgia Southern advances to the Southern Conference Baseball title game with a 10-7 win over Elon on Saturday. The Eagles took an 8-1 lead into the seventh inning and then had to hang on for the victory against the Phoenix.
Chase Griffin led the offensive charge for Georgia Southern going 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs. Garren Palmer, Michael Burruss and Tyler Avera all knocked in two runs each. The Eagles banged out 16 hits in the game. Quinn Bower and Chris Bresnahan finished with two hits each while Ryan Kinsella drove in three runs for Elon.
Will Middour gets the win for the Eagles after pitching six innings and allowing five hits and two runs (one earned). Kyle Rowe earns his sixth save pitching the final 2 1/3 innings in relief. Kyle Webb takes the loss going 4 1/3 innings and allowing eight hits and six runs.
Georgia Southern will take on Samford in the championship game which begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday and can be seen on ESPN3.
