SoCon Baseball Tournament 2012: Georgia Southern's Run Ends With 9-6 Extra Innings Loss

The Georgia Southern Eagles saw their run in the 2012 SoCon Baseball Tournament come to an end with a 9-6 loss in extra innings to Samford on Sunday.

The Eagles fell behind early when Samford scored two runs in the first inning. The Eagles answered back with a single run in the bottom half of the inning. The Bulldogs extended the lead to 4-1 in the second and led 6-3 after the sixth. Georgia Southern scored two in the seventh and one in the ninth to send the game into extras but three runs in the top of the 10th gave Samford the championship.

Eric Phillips, Garren Palmer and Michael Burruss each finished with two hits for Georgia Southern. Burriss and Palmer drove in two runs each. Zeth Stone had four hits in six at bats for Samford and also drove in four runs. Saxon Butler, Brandon Miller and C.K. Irby added two hits each for the Bulldogs.
