The Georgia Southern Eagles picked up their first conference win over the weekend, and they'll go for their second when they host the Samford Bulldogs on Saturday. The Bulldogs are off to a 4-0 start and received some votes in this week's FCS Coaches Poll.
Georgia Southern prevailed, 31-17, in last year's meeting between these two teams, with its ground game leading the way. The Eagles finished that game with 263 yards rushing on 49 carries (5.4 yards per attempt) and added 95 yards through the air. The Bulldogs threw for 277 yards in that one, and they come into the 2012 meeting ranked No. 50 in total offense.
Samford has been solid on the defensive side so far, as it ranks 36th in total defense and 26th in rushing defense. The Bulldogs will need a great effort from that unit to avoid another loss to Georgia Southern.
