When the Georgia Southern Eagles welcome the Samford Bulldogs to Paulson Stadium on Saturday, the Bulldogs will play a football game ranked for the first time in nearly a decade, but will face a Georgia Southern team that has already scored more than 100 points in its first three games of the year.

Coming off of a rebound victory over the Elon Phoenix last Saturday, the Eagles look to continue to put their loss to the Citadel Bulldogs in the rearview mirror against Samford. All three squads are in the thick of the early season race in the Southern Conference, with Samford and the Citadel each holding a league-best 2-0 record.

Against Elon, Georgia Southern's dual-threat quarterback Ezayi Youyoute rushed for more than 100 yards and passed for a touchdown to help the Bulldogs inch out the Phoenix, 26-23. Running back Jerick McKinnon also contributed 96 yards on the ground.

Samford, off to a 4-0 overall start, was led by running back Fabian Truss's 180 yards and two touchdowns against the Western Carolina Catamounts in the Bulldogs' 25-21 victory.
