The Georgia Southern Eagles face the Howard Bison on Saturday in the first of their final two games. The Eagles lost in Week 10, snapping a six game winning streak when they fell to the Appalachian St. Mountaineers.
The 7-2 Eagles are averaging 34.1 points scored per game, and only 18.1 points against. That should come in handy against the 6-3 Bison, who have put up more than 30 points three times this season, including a 56-9 win over the Savannah St. Tigers.
Dominique Swope will return to contribute to the rushing attack, which leads the FCS with 387 yards per game. Eagles fans will hope he picks up where he left off, leading the team with 14 rushing touchdowns. Howard's running game averages 211 yards per game, and for both teams it represents the bulk of their offense. Georgia Southern is second from the bottom of the FCS in passing offense, and Howard is only seven places above them.
Georgia Southern's season ends with a game against the Georgia Bulldogs, but looking past Howard would be a mistake. Expect Saturday to feature two ground-and-pound offenses slugging it out.
