Georgia Southern secured its spot atop the Southern Conference with a 69-26 annihilation of the Howard Bison Saturday afternoon.

After Howard turned the ball over on downs on their opening drive, the flood gates burst open for the Eagles. RB Dominique Swope sprinted for a 58-yard rushing touchdown on GSU's second snap of the game. Swope then busted off another 34-yard score on their next drive before QB Jerick McKinnon gave GSU a 21-0 lead with his 87-yard touchdown on the ground.

The Bison didn't even come close to hanging with Georgia Southern the rest of the way, as the Eagles scored at least two touchdowns every quarter. Georgia Southern compiled 597 yards of offense, with 529 coming on the ground.

Box Score Hero: QB Jerick McKinnon (198 yards, three TDs rushing) and RB Dominique Swope (98 yards, two TDs) went off for the Panthers with the latter of the two averaging 24.5 yards per carry. McKinnon also scored two touchdowns through the air on his only two completions of the game.

Next Week's Schedule: Upset special anyone? Georgia Southern will be looking to take down the Georgia Bulldogs on the road next Saturday in their final game of the season. As for the Bison, they'll have another tough matchup against Delaware State.
