The Valparaiso Crusaders thrashed the Georgia Southern Eagles on Friday night, easily handling the team in a 85-54 win. The Eagles gave up 21 turnovers to the Crusaders' 14, and they failed to make the most of the turnovers they had, getting only 18 points while Valparaiso picked up 36.
Cleon Roberts had 18 points in 24 minutes for the Eagles. Eric Ferguson added another 16 points, but he also turned the ball over eight times. Tre Bussey had 10 points, three rebounds and two turnovers. The team shot only 41 percent, while Valparaiso managed 52.9 percent. The Crusaders absolutely buried the Eagles on three-pointers, sinking 13 of 24 attempts (54.2 percent.), compared to Georgia Southern's 4 of 13 (30.8 percent.)
The second-half effort by the Eagles was better than the first, but neither was close. Their season continues with a road game against the University of North Carolina-Charlotte 49ers on Tuesday.
