Georgia Southern defensive tackle Brent Russell recently brought home an award for his solid season, according to the Telegraph.
Russell was named to the Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS All-America team. He was a first-team selection for the second time.
In 12 games this season, the 300-pounder out of Comer, Ga., recorded 39 tackles and 7 1/2 for loss. He also had 3 1/2 sacks.
Offensive lineman Garrett Frye also joined Russell on the Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS All-America team.
Defensive lineman Dion DuBose and Dorian Byrd were named to the College Sports Madness FCS All-American team. DuBose was a third-team selection. He finished the year with nine tackles for loss and 5 1/2 sacks.
The Eagles are 10-3 this season and went 6-2 in the Southern conference. Georgia Southern is currently in the midst of a run at the FCS National Championship. After wins over Central Arkansas and Old Dominion, the Eagles play top-seeded North Dakota State in the semifinals at 8 p.m. ET Friday.
