Georgia Southern didn't trail at any point against Virginia Tech, stunning them for the 78-73 upset on Saturday. Coach Charlton Young was very pleased with how things came together, especially given the general lack of chemistry on this team, as noted by The Augusta Chronicle.
Young spoke to the fact that the Eagles were picked as one of the top teams in the Southern Conference, but that they lost some key players. Now, they have two people who were expected to be backups in the starting lineup and two players who didn't figure to see the court this season backing them up.
"To be honest with you, we've had some chemistry issues on our team," said Young. He went on to say that the team has been waiting for it all to come together, and that on Saturday, it did. The talent is most definitely there, but they'll need to continue to work on that chemistry going forward.
