Mississippi Valley State vs. Georgia Southern final score: Eagles earn sloppy, 63-52 victory

It certainly wasn't pretty but Georgia Southern managed to prevail Saturday in the third round of the Las Vegas Classic.

Georgia Southern managed to keep Mississippi Valley State winless Saturday afternoon with a 63-52 victory in the third round of the Las Vegas Classic.

Eric Feguson lead both teams in scoring with an efficient performance of 18 points and seven rebounds of 8-of-11 shooting. Senior C.J. Reed wasn't quite as accurate, going 2-of-11 from the field but he was perfect from the free-throw line (8-for-8) which allowed him to rack up 12 points of his own.

Luckily for the Eagles, the Mississippi Valley State offense was as awful as it has been all season. The Delta Devils combined to shoot 32.1 percent from the floor including a mindbogglingly bad 3-for-21 from beyond the arc. The only reason they managed to break the 50-point barrier for the first time in four games was because the Eagles generously coughed up 20 turnovers.

Georgia Southern will now move on to play the winner of Cal-State Bakersfield and North Florida.
