Georgia State Basketball Vs. Washington: Panthers Open Season At World Vision Classic In Seattle

The Georgia State Panthers will begin the 2011-12 season in Seattle where they will take on the Washington Huskies as a part of the World Vision Classic.

Georgia State basketball will begin its 2011-12 season in Seattle Washington as part of the World Vision Classic. Their first opponent could be one of the toughest they will face all season in the Washington Huskies.

Ron Hunter takes over for Rod Barnes and is trying to inject a new attitude on style of play into the Panthers who figure to be much more up-tempo this season. Hunter won 254 games during his 17 year stint at IUPUI and will try to instill that successful mentality on the Panthers. Returners Eric Buckner and Brandon McGee will be relied upon by Hunter to provide leadership to the young team but an excellent recruiting class already signals that the future may be bright for Georgia State.

Washington comes into the season having won 76 games over the last three seasons despite having lost NBA caliber talent along the way. This season will be no different as the Huskies will attempt to replace leading scorer Isiah Thomas who left after his junior season.
