Football spring practice and spring game kickoff dates have been released by Georgia State Sports Communications. In 2011, the Panthers will compete as an FCS (formerly 1-AA) Independent and will hold their annual spring game on Thursday night, April 14th at the Georgia Dome. Time for the game is still being determined according to GSU Director of Athletics Cheryl Levick.
With 21 out of 22 starters returning, the Panthers only add one new face for spring practice in Georgia Military College transfer D’Mario Gunn who graduated in December and has joined the Panthers for offseason conditioning. Gunn will compete immediately for playing time at the Left Cornerback Position.
The Panthers will begin practice Monday through Thursday for 3 weeks starting on March 21st and concluding on April 7th. GSU will hold a game week style practice on Monday, April 11th and Tuesday, April 12th before Thursday’s matchup.
There are multiple position battles which could emerge this Spring at Quarterback, Running Back and in the Defensive Secondary.
