Fresh off its first verbal, the Georgia State football coaching staff continues to shell out offers to talented defensive players out of South Georgia. Defensive tackle Derious Bennett of Carver (Columbus) HS and linebacker Mark Thomas of Glynn Academy now hold offers from the Panthers.
Bennett is a 6'0, 285 lbs dominant defensive tackle prospect with great hands and good quickness. He is the prototypical nose guard in the Panthers 3-4 defense. Derious has tremendous lower body strength and utilizes his power very effectively. He also holds offers from Houston, Marshall, Wake Forest and Arkansas State.
Junior Highlights:
Thomas is a 6'3, 210lbs who is very quick to the football. He was very productive in 2010 at the defensive end position piling up 75 tackles but projects as an outside linebacker at the collegiate level. He actually started his career at strong safety and continued to get bigger giving you an idea about his athletic ability. Mark also holds offers from Georgia Southern and The Citadel.
