The 2012 recruiting cycle has reached its quiet period but the Georgia State football coaching staff has not slowed much at all offering two more scholarships this past weekend. QB Corey Mayton of Burke County HS and DT Trent Dunne of Hoover HS in Hoover, AL are the latest to hold grant in aid offers.
Mayton is a 6'1, 212lbs dual threat quarterback with very good on field speed. He throws very well on run, shows nice touch and has a slightly lower release point but shows good arm strength. He put up tremendous numbers as a first year starter in 2010 for the Bears. Corey racked up 1,465 passing yards and 1,013 rushing yards last season. This includes a tremendous run (842 total yards and 7 touchdowns in four games) in Burke County's AAA state playoff run that ended on the floor of the Georgia Dome. The Panthers are the first school to offer Mayton.
Junior HighlightsDunne is a 6'1, 275lbs athletic defensive tackle who is likely being recruited at noseguard for the Panthers 3-4 hybrid scheme. He is the prototypical high motor defensive lineman who makes play in the backfield and is quick enough to make plays up the field on screens and short passes. He has the frame to gain 15-20lbs with college level strength and conditioning. This is his first scholarship offer.
