Tennessee Football To Play Georgia State In 2012

Georgia State is again scheduling future opponents from the best conference in college football as the Panthers will face Tennessee in 2012.

Georgia State football head coach Bill Curry has stated numerous times that his Georgia State Panthers football team will "play anyone, anywhere, anytime."  His team will once again dip into the shark tank that is the SEC in 2012, as his troops will head north to Knoxville, according to WNML AM-FM host Jimmy Hyams' Twitter feed Monday afternoon.

Per Doug Roberson of the AJC'S Twitter Account:

#gsu will receive $500k for playing

Based on the Volunteers current schedule, the game is most likely to be played on Saturday, September 8th.  Tennessee is already set to play in the Georgia Dome vs. NC State in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic, which takes place on Saturday, September 1st.

This will be the second SEC opponent in three years for the Panthers, as GSU faced off with the Alabama Crimson Tide in their final game of 2010. Georgia State will begin Colonial Athletic Association play in earnest next season and will be eligible for the FCS Playoffs.
