The Georgia St. Panthers had no issues Friday night when they easily defeated the Hofstra Pride 85-50 in the opening round of the CAA tournament. This game was close for about the first nine minutes, but then Georgia State went on a 21-2 run and never looked back. At the half Georgia State led 45-24 and the second half was much of the same.
Forward Eric Buckner led the way for Georgia State with 21 points and 11 rebounds, but was most impressive is that Buckner was seven-of-seven from the field and seven-of-eight from the free throw line. The entire Georgia State squad shot the ball well at 60 percent from the field, and their defense held Hofstra to 34 percent from the field. Hofstra was desperate and had to start chucking up three-pointers, but that did not help their cause as nothing was falling and they made only four-of-15.
Georgia State now takes on the No. 3 seeded George Mason Patriots at 8:30 p.m. ET
