The Georgia St. Panthers nearly upset the George Mason Patriots in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament 61-59. Georgia State was looking good in this game as they had a five point-lead at the half, but George Mason started the second half on an 11-4 run to take a 36-34 lead which they would not give up.

George Mason extended their lead to 10 points before Georgia State was able to mount a comeback and get within one point and make it a 41-40 lead. However, George Mason went on another run this time 12-3 to go up 56-47, but once again Georgia Southern came back and had an attempt to win the game with a long distance three-pointer that did not fall.
