Ron Hunter Not A Fan Of Negative Recruiting Tactics

Lost in the hoopla of Georgia State's move to the Sun Belt Conference was its already successful basketball program which was already playing at the D-1 level in the Colonial Athletic Association. Leaving for the Sun Belt is a lateral basketball move and is being constituted as a step-backwards by many opposing coacheswho are actively recruiting several Georgia State targets and using the move as ammunition.

Panthers head coach Ron Hunter isn't happy with the tactics and recently told the AJC that he had contacted the coaches individually and is not going to take things with a laid back approach. Also in the interview, Hunter acknowledges that there is a difference in playing in the CAA and in the Sun Belt. The move was completely a football move and its not a coincidence that is usually the sport that drives such decisions.

Hunter won't speak negatively of the move but he left the Summitt League to join Georgia State and the CAA. Will be interesting to see if he overlooks the move to the Sun Belt or starts to look for other opportunities.
