DE Qwontez Mallory dismissed from GSU

Doug Roberson from the AJC is reporting that Bill Curry has dismissed DE Qwontez Mallory for a series of violation of team rules dating back to last year.

Mallory is yet another player slated to play along the defensive line that has been dismissed this off season. Prior to Mallory, defensive ends Roderick Thompson and AJ Portee as well as linebacker Dexter Moody and safety Fred Barnes all were kicked off the team for the often used "violation of team rules".

Mallory was one of the better performers in spring practice and in particularly in the spring scrimmage. But there were questions about whether or not Mallory had the size to play defensive end at this level.

Throughout last season was clear that the Panthers were very immature and a very undisciplined football team. Coach Curry has sent a clear message this off season that he will no longer accept the kind of behavior that has plagued this football team in the past. It remains to be seen whether or not it will have an impact on the field, but in order for Georgia State to be successful they need to keep this off the field issues to a minimum.
