Georgia State Basketball: Ron Hunter Agrees To Six-Year Contract Extension

Ron Hunter, head men's basketball coach at Georgia State University, agrees to a six-year extension after just one year on the job.

Georgia State men's basketball head coach Ron Hunter as agreed to a new six-year contract extension with the school, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

After coaching at IUPUI for 17 years and 254 victories, Hunter was named the Panthers head coach for the 2011-2012 season. In his first year on the job in Atlanta he finished the season with a 22-12 record, the second best record in school history.

Hunter has yet to sign his new contract according to the report, but he is expected to sign it sometime next week.

The Panthers released their non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2012-2013 season and they will open the season on the road in Durham, N.C. on Nov. 9 where they will take on the Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
