The Colonial Athletic Association released its preseason poll on Tuesday and the Georgia State men's basketball team was picked to finish eighth.
Georgia State finished sixth in the CAA last season, but return only one starter from that team. Drexel, who won the league last season, was picked to win first again this season. The poll is voted on by the league's coaches as well as media relations directors and members of the media.
The Panthers lone returning starter, Devonta White, was named to the CAA all-conference second team. He led Georgia State in scoring last season, averaging 12.9 points per game. Deleware and Drexel led the conference in first team selections, each with two. Drexel junior guard Frantz Massenat was voted as the preseason player of the year.
Georgia State finished 22-12 under first-year head coach Ron Hunter last season. Is was the Panthers first season with a record over .500 since the 2003-04 season.
