Virginia Cavaliers offensive coordinator Bill Lazor is now the third candidate that has been interviewed for the vacant head coaching job for the Georgia St. Panthers, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Richmond Times Dispatch. The other candidates that have been interviewed include Virginia Tech Hokies running backs coach Shane Beamer and Sam Houston State Bearkats coach Willie Fritz.
Lazor has spent the last three season with the Cavaliers. In that time he was key to recruiting Georgia for the Cavaliers and was able to land players such as four-star recruit Greyson Lambert. Lazor helped the Cavaliers earn the third-best offense in the ACC in 2010 and fourth-best in 2011 before falling to No. 8 this year.
Lazor also coached in the NFL for seven seasons, making stops with the Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons as Dan Reeves' quality control coach on offense in 2003.
