Georgia State is expected to hire Trent Miles to be its next head football coach, according to a report from Football Scoop. Miles spent the last five seasons as the head coach at Indiana State, where he helped revive that program. While Miles was just 20-36 overall at ISU, he went 19-14 over the last three seasons.
Miles took over an Indiana State program that won just a single game in the three seasons prior to his arrival, and the program was winless in Miles' first season. After the struggles of his first two years, Miles led the Sycamores to three consecutive winning seasons, and this season they also finished with a winning record in conference play. Prior to 2010, the program hadn't had a winning overall record since 1996.
Georgia State is coming off a 1-10 campaign in 2012, which was just the third year of the program's existence. The Panthers are moving to the Sun Belt Conference prior to next season.
