Georgia State extended its losing streak to three Saturday with 65-60 road loss to the Rhode Island Rams.
Freshman R.J. Hunter did his best to stop the bleeding with a game-high 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting but he was outdone by Rhode Island's Xavier Munford, who chipped in all 17 of his points in the second half.
Munford broke a 42-42 tie in the second half with 12 consecutive points for the Rams to give them a 10-point lead with about six minutes to play. The Panthers valiantly fought back to cut the deficit to 62-60 with 1:27 remaining but Devonta White saw his layup get swatted away and a golden opportunity squandered.
After failing in crunch time yet again, the Panthers have now lost their past three games by a combined margin of eight points. They'll look to get back on track next Saturday when they pay a visit to Georgia Southern.
