College football schedule 2012: Georgia, Georgia Tech headline local slate

Not many area teams are in action this weekend, but fans do have the rivalry matchup between Georgia and Georgia Tech to look forward to. Both teams have clinched a spot in their respective conference title games, and the Bulldogs are trying to keep national championship hopes alive.

At No. 3 in the BCS, Georgia could make its way into the national championship game with a win over Georgia Tech this weekend and a win over Alabama in the SEC championship game.

Elsewhere in the area, Georgia Southern is off this week and preparing for its FCS playoffs game against Central Arkansas, which is set for Dec. 1. The Eagles have reached the semifinal round in each of the last two seasons.

Georgia State's season ended on Nov. 10; the Panthers finished 1-10 overall.
