Freshman Solomon Poole made his Georgia Tech debut Monday. It wasn't exactly smooth, according to Ken Sugiura of the AJC:

The game was noteworthy as the debut of early enrollee freshman Solomon Poole, who entered the game with 6:10 remaining in the game. As might be of expected of a player who had had two practices with his team before Monday, Poole appeared out of sync with his teammates and perhaps overeager, committing three turnovers in his six minutes. He scored his first two points as a Jacket at the line, banking home two free throws.

"He's got a lot to learn," [Georgia Tech coach Brian] Gregory said.

In his six minutes in the game, Poole missed his only shot from the field, recorded two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Poole is a five-star recruit out of Jacksonville. He graduated high school early, so he enrolled in the spring term and was granted eligibility for Monday's game. He started practicing Saturday.

Gregory said Thursday that "one of the big things that's big with us right now is our team chemistry ... and I think he understands that. I think he's willing to do anything in any role that we ask him."

Without Poole, the Jackets have had a hot start to the season. Georgia Tech is 7-2 after Monday's convincing 75-41 win over Alabama State. They are riding a three-game winning streak since their loss to No. 22 Illinois on Nov. 28.

Georgia Tech has four more home games until they are back on the road. On Jan. 9, the Jackets will travel to play No. 25 North Carolina State.
