The Georgia Tech women's basketball squad burst out to a 19-5 lead on Quinnipiac and never looked back, cruising to a 74-57 win over the Bobcats Saturday night. Quinnipiac staged a comeback late in the first half, but never came closer than four points. The win improves Georgia Tech's record to 6-5 on the season. Quinnipiac falls to 8-2.
The Yellow Jackets were led by junior guard Dawnn Maye, who scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds. Aaliyah Whiteside added 17 points, while Tyaunna Marshall recorded 13 points and 14 rebounds. Georgia Tech shot just 37.5% from the field and committed 26 turnovers, but dominated the glass, outrebounding the Bobcats 46-27 and recovering 51% of their own missed shots.
Quinnipiac got 17 points and nine boards from sophomore forward Brittany McQuain. Freshman guard Jasmine Martin added 15 points. Felicia Barron had 10. The Bobcats shot just 8-for-26 from the free throw line and gave up 25 turnovers.
