Defensive back Jamal Golden continued to spark the Georgia Tech offense with his prolific kickoff returns on Saturday, setting a school record with 231 kickoff return yards against North Carolina.
Golden's 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown at the start of the second half gave the Yellow Jackets a 34-29 lead that they would never relinquish, helping the team to the 68-50 win in the highest-scoring game in ACC history.
The score was his second return for a touchdown this season, following up a 97-yard kick return for a score against BYU earlier this year. The two kick return touchdowns for Golden tied a Georgia Tech record - Drew Hill is the only other Georgia Tech player to take two kicks back for scores, a record he achieved in in 1978. The score also tied Tech's career record for kickoff returns, which is held by three other players.
Golden has also made a solid contribution on defense this year, accounting for 16 tackles.
