After defeating the North Carolina Tar Heels, 68-50 on Saturday, two players from the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets received player of the week awards for their performance. Though no player was named offensive player of the week, linebacker Quayshawn Nealy was named co-linebacker of the week after recording six tackles and a career-high two sacks against the Tar Heels.
Another player that received weekly honors was kick returner Jamal Golden. Against the Tar Heels he returned one kick 100 yards for a touchdown and recorded 230 yards on kickoff returns, a single-game record for Georgia Tech. That kickoff return for a touchdown made Golden only the second player, Drew Hill the other, in Yellow Jackets history to return a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns in a single season.
The Yellow Jackets are now preparing for Saturday's game against the Duke Blue Devils at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The game is scheduled for kickoff at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
