The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets clinched a berth in the ACC Championship Game this week, by virtue of Miami declaring they would voluntarily not go to a bowl this season. Despite opening up the possibility that the Yellow Jackets could land in the BCS with a win against Florida State, appearing in the title game actually reduced the number of bowls that Georgia Tech could go to.
The loser of the ACC title game is guaranteed to fall no further than the Sun Bowl in El Paso, TX, which is third in the ACC's bowl hierarchy. If Georgia Tech loses to both Georgia and Florida State, that's where they'll likely end up. The other options for them are the Orange Bowl (if they win the ACC title), the Chick-fil-A Bowl, and the Russell Athletic Bowl.
However, if Clemson defeats South Carolina this weekend, they would likely be the ones invited to the Chick-fil-A Bowl, as they'd be the ACC's only other ranked team besides Florida State. The picture for the Yellow Jackets will become more clear after this weekend.
