Omoregie Uzzi named 1st Team All-ACC

The lineman is Georgia Tech's only representative on the All-ACC teams.

Josh D. Weiss-US PRESSWIRE

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offensive guard Omoregie Uzzi earned first team All-ACC honors for his performance this season. Uzzi has been a mainstay on the Jackets' offensive line for several seasons and also made the ACC's first team in 2011. He also earned several preseason all-conference nods over the last two years.

Uzzi began his Georgia Tech career as a reserve in 2009, but moved into a starting role the following season; he started 24 games over the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

He is the only Georgia Tech player to make the first or second All-ACC teams, though Jeremiah Attaochu, Jay Finch, Will Jackson and Orwin Smith were honorable mentions. Finch and Jackson are fellow offensive linemen, Attaochu leads the team in sacks with eight and Smith is the Jackets' leading rusher.

Georgia Tech is preparing for the 2012 ACC Championship game, which is set for this Saturday night. Their opponent out of the Atlantic Division will be the Florida State Seminoles.
