Georgia Tech vs. Maryland final score: Yellow Jackets roll over Terrapins, 33-13

Georgia Tech did what was expected of it on Saturday, easily dispatching Maryland, 33-13.

Considering a freshman linebacker was starting at quarterback, no one was expecting an offensive explosion for the Maryland Terrapins against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The game that many thought would happen, did, as the Yellow Jackets easily put away the Terrapins, 33-13.

Georgia Tech scored five rushing touchdowns, and put up 370 yards rushing as a team. Orwin Smith was the team's leading rusher with 89 yards on 10 carries. Six players had over 30 rushing yards, and 11 players recorded at least one carry for the Yellow Jackets. Tevin Washington and Vad Lee split quarterbacking duties, and both of them rushed for touchdowns.

Shawn Petty, the aforementioned linebacker-turned-quarterback for Maryland, struggled for most of the day. He did, however, connect with Stefon Diggs twice for touchdowns, the second of which coming with only four seconds left in the game. Petty finished 9-18 for 116 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Box Score Hero: There wasn't a single standout performance from the Yellow Jackets, but Vad Lee had two touchdowns on only 12 carries, which is a pretty good ratio.

Rankings Ramifications: Neither Georgia Tech nor Maryland were ranked before this game, and neither will be afterwards.

But Did They Cover? Georgia Tech were 7-point favorites entering the game, so it covered the spread easily.
