Sun Bowl 2012: USC vs. Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Experts going with USC over Georgia Tech in the 2012 Sun Bowl.

Bob Donnan-US PRESSWIRE

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be playing in their second straight Sun Bowl when they take on the USC Trojans in El Paso on Dec. 31. The Yellow Jackets lost, 30-27, to the Utah Utes in last year's Sun Bowl and have actually lost seven straight bowl games.

It will take a big effort for Georgia Tech to avoid an eighth straight bowl loss as USC is talented despite its 7-5 record. Trojans quarterback Matt Barkley may be back from an injury and ready to attack a weak Yellow Jackets passing defense. Most experts do not think Georgia Tech will be able to hang with USC's high powered offense.

SB Nation's panel of pundits picked USC, and Bill Connelly's advanced F/+ selection is also for the Trojans. CBS Sports' Jerry Palm is going with the Trojans, and Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel does not think the game will even be close. Mandel has picked USC to clobber Georgia Tech, 56-21.
