Georgia Tech adds Alabama A&M to 2013 football schedule

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will play the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Nov. 23 next season at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have finished out their non-conference football schedule for 2013 by agreeing to play the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Nov. 23 at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The game is scheduled for the week before the Yellow Jackets play the Georgia Bulldogs at home. It'll be the first time in school history that they will play an FCS-level school the week before the game against Georgia.

The Yellow Jackets had hoped to set up home-and-home dates for 2013-14 with teams from the Big Ten, the Big East or Conference USA. However because of how late the ACC decided on playing an eight-game schedule with their impending expansion, the Yellow Jackets could not find an FBS school with openings or willing to make openings with them.

Alabama A&M, coached by former Morehouse coach Anthony Jones, is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, which is comprised of historically black colleges and universities. The team finished 7-4 this season, losing their lone FBS game to the Auburn Tigers, 51-7.
