Georgia Tech junior safety Jemea Thomas will return to school for his senior season, according to his Facebook account.

Thomas wrote: "to clear things up I will be at georgia tech next year because I promised my grandmother a degree now go and write about that."

Thomas had previously declined to comment on his status for his senior season before these comments were posted on Saturday.

Thomas has 80 tackles and four interceptions for the Yellow Jackets this season. Georgia Tech finished 6-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play to earn a postseason match-up with USC in the Hyundai Sun Bowl on Dec. 31.

Thomas will have the responsibility of helping stop USC wide receiver Marqise Lee, who has 112 receptions for 1,680 yards and 14 touchdowns this year, in the Yellow Jackets' final game this season. The USC passing attack is averaging 296.9 yards per game, which ranks 25th in the country.
