ACC College Football, Week 11: No. 20 Virginia Tech Hokies Vs. North Carolina Tar Heels Preview

The 7-2, 5-0 Virginia Tech Hokies have the ACC Coastal Division all but laced up unless total disaster strikes, which means they don’t stand a chance against the 6-3, 3-2 North Carolina Tar Heels. UNC isn’t out of the ACC running either, though let’s not even get into the series of RZA’s mathematics that would need to be solved for the Heels to make it to the ACC Championship Game. SIDE NOTE: How much would the Tobacco Road Mafia* love it if the Heels played the N.C. State Wolfpack in the first conference title game held in Charlotte?

After holding on to upset the Florida St. Seminoles last week, the Heels have won six of their last seven despite losing just about Phil Steele’s entire preseason All-American defense. The Hokies got their first ACC test last week, when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets demonstrated a very effective method for defending against QB Tyrod Taylor: lay back in the cut and let him do whatever he wants. Think the Tar Heels might try the same thing?

* If you’re not familiar with the Tobacco Road Mafia, you really don’t care about this game anyway. Here is SB Nation’s NFL coverage.

TV time: 3:30 on ABC and ESPN3.
