The Miami Hurricanes’ three best wins were a 23-point beatdown of the North Carolina Tar Heels, a 28-point prime time road humiliation of the Pittsburgh Panthers, and a nine-point win on the road against the Clemson Tigers. Two of their losses were entirely excusable: a 12-pointer in Columbus against the then-second-ranked Ohio St. Buckeyes and a one-score loss against the Maryland Terrapins on the day they lost QB Jacory Harris.
Then there’s that Florida St. Seminoles game, when the Canes lost 45-17 at home and really didn’t look interested in participating.
Considering the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ most impressive game was a 28-21 loss in Blacksburg against the Virginia Tech Hokies, you’d have to give Miami the resume edge. Tech’s second-best effort was a six-point road win against the Heels. And that confounding loss to the Kansas Jayhawks just looks better and better all the time — KU actually won a game last week, finally forcing Colorado Buffaloes coach Dan Hawkins out.
