The Duke Blue Devils are 3-7, though it’s not the typical Duke 3-7. They went on a six-game losing streak throughout Sept. and Oct., but only one of those six opponents currently has a losing record. And they’ve got themselves a productive offense, being held under 21 points only five times and posting 41, 48, 34, and 55 on various foes of no particular defensive repute.
They also played the Alabama Crimson Tide seven points tougher at home than the Georgia St. Panthers did on the road. This means that, on a neutral field, Duke should be favored over GSU North by one point, which is all you need. So there’s another W!
Meanwhile, the 5-5 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have lost to three of the ACC’s best teams, the Clemson Tigers on Clemson’s best day, and one of the worst teams in America.
So which team has a better resume?
Tech has lost three straight, but also won three straight earlier this year. Duke’s win over the Navy Midshipmen is quite possibly better than Tech’s win over the depleted North Carolina Tar Heels, and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are the only really bad team Duke has lost to, but Tech gets the carefully considered edge here for the first time in at least a month.
