Proving the SEC isn’t the only conference with confusing coaching rumors afoot, the Miami Hurricanes coaching hunt now either involves Nebraska Cornhuskers coach Bo Pelini or doesn’t. Let us explain.
Word on one side of the street is that Pelini is interested in the Miami job, with one of the Sun Sentinel’s sources on the matter describing the volcanic coach as “in the mix.” The Miami Herald reported Pelini and Miami had permission to speak to each other. However, Nebraska AD Tom Osborne has said Pelini didn’t ask for permission to speak to the Canes.
Though the Jon Gruden thing didn’t work out, if Pelini is really in the running here we can officially credit the U with the most angryfaced coaching search ever. If you can’t land Gruden or Pelini, where do you go from there? The eye of Sauron?
