Al Golden To Coach Miami Hurricanes, According To Report

ESPN’s Bruce Feldman is reporting on Twitter that Temple head coach Al Golden has accepted an offer to become the next Miami Hurricanes coach. Golden has previously coached and recruited in the ACC as a Virginia Cavaliers graduate assistant, Boston College Eagles linebackers coach, and again as Cavs defensive coordinator.

Golden worked as eventual Al Groh’s defensive coordinator at Virginia. Groh went on to become the current Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets DC.

He led Temple to a 26-32 record in five years, including consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 1979 and what should’ve been consecutive bowl bids for the first time ever, if not for a conference tie-in that mandated some Sun Belt team a spot. I’m tired of looking up Sun Belt bowl bids, but you get the point.

Previously rumored and otherwise candidates have included Bo Pelini, Jon Gruden, Randy Edsall, and Marc Trestman.
