Chip Towers is reporting Monroe athlete Demontavious Smith is joining Lakeland, Florida offensive lineman Errin Joe as a new Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets commit.
“Demon” Smith is a hometown friend of Stephon Tuitt, one of Tech’s prime targets and a current Notre Dame Fighting Irish commit who was scheduled to visit the Flats over the weekend. He also had an offer from the Virginia Tech Hokies in addition to a bunch of FBS and FCS option schools, indicating he’s thought to be a good fit in this type of offense. He’s rated as a two-star player by Rivals.
Three-star Joe is a bigger get, though he doesn’t come with the potential benefit of bending Tuitt’s ear. He was also offered by 22 other schools including the Florida St. Seminoles, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Stanford Cardinal. He’s the fourth offensive lineman to commit for this year’s class, rated as the nation’s No. 16 guard and the No. 56 player in Florida.
