Jim Harbaugh Leaving Stanford Could Turn Recruit James Vaughters Toward Georgia Tech

Stanford Cardinal head coach Jim Harbaugh is the hottest item in multiple coaching rumors, from the Michigan Wolverines to the San Francisco 49ers. The Denver Broncos are reportedly dead set on Harbaugh, and more will probably come to light over the next day or two as additional NFL teams look to change coaches.

All of this could be good for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

This summer, James Vaughters of Tucker, the Peach State’s No. 1 linebacker and the Atlanta area’s No. 1 recruit, chose Stanford over the Ohio St. Buckeyes, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Alabama Crimson Tide (apparently in that order or something very close to it).

But if Harbaugh leaves, Vaughters is saying he’d reconsider Tech and Ohio State, along with the Florida Gators and possibly Miami Hurricanes, according to Chip Towers. Rivals rates Vaughters as a 5.8 linebacker, the same as current top commit Jabari Hunt-Days. Landing two four-star linebackers would be outstanding for the future of Tech’s new 3-4 system.
