With 24 commits on board (for now), the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are likely just about done with football recruiting for the year, as this is already in line to be an especially large class by Tech’s standards. Huntsville, Ala., DE Trey Flowers is the latest, committing earlier Wednesday.
Flowers isn’t the biggest name, as he’s unrated by most services and only received offers from schools like UAB. He’s big (6-3, 250 lbs.), and based on video is violent but raw.
He’s the fourth defensive end to join the class and not leave it for Notre Dame, though it’s not clear whether he’ll bulk up and play on the line or become a linebacker.
One of Tech’s problems over the past few years has been depth. While players like Flowers have a long way to go to become game-changing starters, Tech fans should at least be glad Paul Johnson is bringing in a large class.
