Georgia Tech, SEC's Alabama And LSU Figure In 2011 BCS National Championship Odds

Georgia Tech's strong start in 2011 has it in the national championship conversation. But the odds on the Yellow Jackets taking home a title are still long.

It's no surprise to see undefeated SEC rulers Alabama and LSU at the head of any list of teams in college football. But Georgia Tech looks like an interloper in the latest 2011 BCS National Championship odds from Bodog:

Odds to win the 2011-2012 BCS Championship

Alabama 7/4
Oklahoma 3/1
LSU 9/2
Wisconsin 7/1
Boise State 10/1
Clemson 12/1
Stanford 12/1
Oklahoma State 12/1
Michigan 20/1
Oregon 30/1
Georgia Tech 50/1
West Virginia 50/1
Texas 125/1

Yes, those Yellow Jackets are currently undefeated, and Paul Johnson's team was far and away the NCAA's leader in scoring offense before a relative brownout against Maryland last week. But Georgia Tech hasn't been mentioned in the same sentence as "national championship contender" — in football, anyway, and bless you, Luke Schenscher — in decades.

Those odds are pretty good, too: for Tech to end up in the BCS National Championship Game, it will probably take an undefeated regular season championship and ACC title, and the only undefeated team left for the Yellow Jackets is a Clemson squad that must come to Atlanta in November.
