The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are set to square off against the Utah Utes at the 2011 Hyundai Sun Bowl on December 31.The bowl game isn't one of this year's marquee matchups, leading some columnists to write it off as a somewhat missable game.
Trevor Amicone of KSL Sports in Utah posted an article on Friday running down the most interesting and least interesting bowl games of 2011, as well as potential upsets to watch out for. The Sun Bowl clocked in at No. 4 on Amicone's "5 least viewer-friendly bowl games." The article mentions that the game should be close and competitive but points out that both teams favor low-scoring and repetitive offenses.
The Utah running game is the team's strong suit, whereas the Jackets lean very heavily on the triple option. Although this game may not be flashy, it may actually come as a welcome surprise to viewers who tend to be inundated with college teams overwhelmingly showcasing a West Coast offense. This might be a good opportunity for both teams to prove that the ground game can live on and be exciting.
