2011 Sun Bowl To Overtime: Georgia Tech Misses 48-Yard Field Goal Attempt For The Win

The Utah Utes offenses came alive against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defense in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 24 apiece to send the game into overtime.

Georgia Tech stopped the Utah offense and forced them to punt, but on the next offensive drive Georgia Tech could not run out the clock and was forced to punt the ball. Utah's Griff McNabb returned the punt 31 yards to put the ball at the Georgia Tech 24 yard line.

Georgia Tech's defense held Utah to only one yard and there was a 5-yard delay of game penalty for Utah to push them back to the 28-yard line. Then on fourth down, Utah quarterback Jon Hays connected with DeVonte Christopher for a 28-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 24.

Georgia Tech had 92 seconds for one last chance to drive down the field to get the win. The offense did get the ball into field goal range and they lined up for a 48-yard attempt, but the kick attempt by David Scully had the distance but went wide right. So, the game now is heading to overtime.
